Welcome to the
1986 Philmont Gallery
Page #3

In August, 1986, five members of Troop 68, along with one adult advisor, took part in a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. The following pictures are from that adventure.  Read more about the trip, and find out more background about these pictures,  be sure to check out the 1986 Philmont Journal.

All of the pictures are thumbnailed. Click on any picture to see a full size copy.

A view overlooking the southern saddle of Baldy Mountain.

This view looks toward the east of the mountain, into one of Philmont's valleys.

We made it! So we took a picture to prove it to the folks back home.

After the trip to the mountain we stopped at the Aztec Gold Mine for a tour.

A bit of rail and a car stand guard at the gold mine as if to dump its load one more time.

We visited the blacksmith shop at French Henry Camp and make a dinner bell.

We were allowed to use one of the burroes on our last days, if we could catch one.

The guys named him Honcho. He worked with us quite well, for a donkey.

At Pueblano Camp a couple of the crew tried their skills at log rolling. They were not very good at it.

The Campfire at Peublano Camp was hilarious. We laughed until we cried.

Every crew must do four hours of service at Philmont to earn the coveted patch.

Most of the service work is completed while doing work on the trails.

The crew posed at a historical marker at the site of Philturn Scout Ranch.

The cantina and trading post at our last camp along the trail.

The closing campfire was both hilarious and thought provoking.
