These Apple Tablet rumors are going crazy. Even I'm getting curious, and I thought it was a pretty stupid idea to begin with. But, face recognition? Neat. Really looking like a bigger, more powerful, iphone though.
Steve, I know you're probably getting that apple itch...lol _________________

I have been keeping up on the rumors even though they are running rampant! It will be interesting next Wednesday when Apple holds their meeting.
Do I plan to get one? Probably not, at least not right away. There would have to be a good reason for getting one, not just because it is a big iPod Touch. Besides, the rumor mills make it sound expensive. _________________ Scoutmaster

Yea I'm hearing a $1000. But, other places say it may get subsidized if you buy it through a carrier, like AT&T and Verizon, making it like $250 instead.
But! That implies, like the iphone, it requires a subscription of some sort. Which is dumb. _________________

I don't get this. From what I understand it will be about the size of a piece of paper length and width wise, but how do you type on that? Why get it over just a Mac book? _________________ Name: Oswald

Well, i looks like the iPad is a big iPod Touch with an eBook reader built in. I will not be rushing out to buy one anytime soon. _________________ Scoutmaster

That's exactly what it is. Well, also it has 3G if you want it so usable anywhere. But nothing as revolutionary as I thought.
Really neat looking though _________________

It's not made for you or I son. It's for jetsetters and business people.
Netbooks are thick for what they do and poorly made.
This replaces a laptop on the plane. Carrying a laptop on business is a beast, trust me, my macbook pro is just terrible on my back.
I can see 30somethings and early 40s men on business buying these like hotcakes. And if only for an e-reader, kindles are still super expensive anyway.
I'll wait until they increase office apps, find the inevitable bug that'll arive and someone makes a video game emulator easy to use. I could see getting one with Verizon in 5 years, sure. |

13 inch macbook pro. For a little bit more money you have a full fledged computer, slightly bigger screen, and it's very light.
I've seen some really good netbooks. It's like anything, you get what you pay for.
But, I do agree with ya Mike. This thing has a specific audience. We aren't really it. _________________

I have downloaded 71 classic books from epubbooks.com. They may be old books, but they are free. Now I need an ebook reader. _________________ Scoutmaster

I don't get why someone would want this over a netbook or laptop. You can even put OS X and Snow Leopard on netbooks and laptops if you want your apple fix. _________________ Name: Oswald

Not very easily Alex. Most people would not be able to or want to take the time. _________________ Scoutmaster

OSX is a hardware hog. I'd like to see the netbook that runs in decently anyway. (I'm sure there are some, but Steve's right here it wouldn't be worth the time for most people)
I'm still in the "buy a 13 or 15 inch macbook pro" camp. Great computers.
So, are you going Kindle Steve? Or how you gonna read those ebooks...? _________________

If I build a computer before college I am going to try and put both Mac and Windows on it, because Mac has some neat stuff. _________________ Name: Oswald
