You new kids make it seem like you deserve to play.
Sounds rather narcissistic to me.
I think I'm qualified with the older folks to feel the need to enlighten you. So I've made some solidified rules to follow in games.
Rule 1: You call Steve, not the other way around. If he has to call, that's your lack of ingenuity to get a game going. i.e, he can't make a quest if he doesn't know a game is coming.
Rule 2: Never assume a game will go on. Back in the day, Bwent and I would come over on saturdays for movies or computer stuff. It wasn't uncommon at all to not have a game.
Rule 3: You need one obcessive kid who always asks. For us, it was Brent. You don't have a member with the cojones to get things started.
Rule 4: Such kid has to pregame plan. We would meet at Brent's and discuss what we were going to do. It wastes less game time and focuses thoughts, unless there's a quest of course.
Rule 5: Each member has a role, and your group reflects this. We had 4-5 years until we figured our each other's strengths and weaknesses, giving items to characters that could use them best.
Rule 6: Knowledge is power. Buy all the books via ebay: Player's handbook, DM guide, monster manual 1+2, fiend folio and buy the DM screen. If you don't know special attacks of monsters, how to heal an odd attack, know the exact spell components for each spell, casting time for each spell, or magic items to look for, and what potions you can make, you're a noob and you must fix that immediately.
Rule 7: Meeko never helps. He has blue eyes and a high pitched voice.
Rule 8: Giants give twice if not more experience than dragons.
Rule 9: Lanning's Trials has more magic than Dogrum's, Dogrum's has more than Atad's, Atad's has more than The Huts.
Rule 10: Owlbears and volts should be avoided at all costs. They have near insta-killling properties.
Rule 11: Tap every ceiling with a stick. And floor.
Rule 12: Never sell magic. Keep it, and sometime down the road it usually comes in useful. (Sell it to Meeko if it's weird, trade with elves/halflings, or hoard for your future guild/keep.
Rule 13: Kid Kickbutt is a terrible fighting NPC.
So chill and be patient. |

| Rule 14: Having 20's count for extra damage sucks. Not worth having monsters have a chance for instant kill when without 20's you would be able to easily kill the creature. |
