Nope, don't need em, and they were refurbished. Still a good deal though.

Hey steve, just got the speakers today. I think they sound great, especially for $20. I didn't realize u can plug them right into the computer, that really helps. Thanks again.

There was a two day woot off the 13th and 14th. Did you notice that Steve? There was a couple Ipod accesories, including a dock for only 3 dollars, new.
