A Scoutmaster's Blog

This is a online journal of a Boy Scout troop scoutmaster's point of view and thoughts on over 25 years as a Boy Scout Leader in central Minnesota. This site also serves as the home of the "Melrose Scouting Productions Podcast" which features Scouting related videos. Visit the site of Melrose Boy Scout Troop 68 at http://www.melrosetroop68.org for nearly 200 pages of local Scouting history.

A New "Social Network" for Scouts and Scouters

I do not know if you have heard of it or not, but ning.com has begun. Ning is a new social network, similar to myspace and facebook but different, I guess.

I jumped on the bandwagon right away and started a network for Boy Scouts and leaders. Take a look at http://boyscout.ning.com/ and see if it is something to be interested in. There is not much to it yet because there are only a few members so far. If, after a time, there does not seem to be any interest in this type of network then I will be deleting it.

The Scout Oath and the Scout Law will be the rules used at this social network. If I find people abusing their membership I retain the right to kick them off the membership list. All I ask is for members to act like the Boy Scout and/or Boy Scout leader that they should be.
